Citizenship ( Amendment ) Bill : Dividing India Again? | Ep. 91 | The Deshbhakt with Akash Banerjee

NRC (National Register of Citizens) has long been an issue in Assam - add to that the fires lit by Citizenship Amendment Bill that has ramifications across the country and on the spirit of the Constitution.... It all started with Assam Accord, which was signed to sort out citizens from illegal migrants (mainly from Bangladesh) Now BJP has now come up with a new hustle over citizenship, the CAB 2019, which puts up the clause of allowing Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis and Christians (basically non-Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan) to become legal citizens of India. The Bill lapsed in Rajya Sabha but now with Modi coming back to power - its a matter of time before CAB/NRC become burning issues again. But what is the CAB all about and what is the politics behind it? Does it go against the very Idea of India and the constitution itself? -
